Today, Monday 4 January, is the start of the working year for most people. I am very happy to say that I am no longer part of that group.
I spent the weekend in the company of my grandchildren in Ranelagh (and of course their parents) and we laughed, danced (well they did anyway), did jigsaws, read books, ate lovely food, watched a film about a dog called Beethoven and several episodes of Avatar on Nickleodeon and generally had a good time. I tested three bars of Thornton’s dark chocolate with Daniel, chilli, ginger and regular. Ginger was my favourite, he liked the chilli one.
We all helped to take off the Christmas tree decorations and the tree was removed. The cards came down and then the paper chains, all this before the generally accepted time but it had to be done. The cleaner comes on Mondays and her life is hard enough without pine needles to hoover.
It’s all over now. Reality has set in. One Christmas tree has gone. The rest of the world is back to work and here am I revelling in my freedom.
If you’re happy and you know it shout Hooray.
