Snow thanks

Croagh Patrick

I know, I know, it’s beautiful and all.  This picture shows it in all its pristine glory. People in the street where I live are writing love notes to one another in it.  Little and not so little people are making snowmen and teddy bears out of it.

But Winter wonderland doesn’t do it for me.  It means I can’t go out in case I slip, it means if I must move I have to take expensive taxis, it means inactivity and putting on extra layers.  Children can’t get back to school and parents can’t get back to work.  The buses are stopping and starting. There is no news on the news anymore, it’s all weather.  And don’t mention grit versus salt and lack of both.

As well as all that there is an eerie silence everywhere.

The good news, as I write, is that it is starting to thaw and I am too.  Promise I won’t be so frosty next time.
